Email Marketing – How to Master This Skill

Email Marketing – a Powerful Tool

Many people say that email marketing is dying, that it’s best days are gone. This can’t be more wrong.

The fact is, we get what seems like a million emails a day, and most of them aren’t that great. Most people don’t know how to write a good email. But you only need to tweak a few things to make your emails REALLY STAND OUT.

You’ve heard that the money’s in the list – but the money’s only in the list if you send them great emails that they love. You must court those people.

email marketing, autoresponderEmails work to fill the gap between you and a new lead to help them get to know, like, and trust you better. Emails do this much better than a sales page or a website. The problem is that most people aren’t using the powerful tool of email marketing properly.

Emails have an advantage over your website of being able to stay in front of a new prospect – they date your prospect and give value. It’s o.k. if a certain percentage opt out of your email list. It’s a way of filtering people and better determining who will be your loyal followers and who won’t be. Your goal is to build the relationship with as many as possible by skillfully crafted emails. This doesn’t mean build your list as big as possible, but rather build a great relationship with however many are on your list.

You can have the best emails by following these guidelines:

1. Write like the email is a conversation.
2. Be honest.
3. Pretend you’re writing to your best friend.
4. Keep your emails short and simple.
5. Use stories. They can be about anything, such as something that happened to you recently or long ago, something that happened to someone you know, or just an analogy or made-up story to make a point.
6. Have a moral to each story.
7. Be sure to include a link to click in order to encourage and track active readers.

You don’t want to be the person whose email people never want to open because they know they’ll feel sold to. You want to be the person whose email people will definitely open because they know they’ll get a story or something interesting or of value to your business or life.

Don’t make the mistake of always trying to sell something, rather than getting to know the other person better. You can certainly put strategies in various types of emails to monetize it, but it shouldn’t feel salesy.

You need to nurture the relationship from the time they first opt-in until the time that they buy from you. That’s why the time to start an ezine is as soon as you start to build your list – even if only 10 people will receive it.

People need to hear from you many many times, and you need to build trust with them. People can connect with you within seconds from anywhere in the world, usually for free. This is why it is so powerful.
