My Independence Day Story

Decision on the 4th of July

3 years ago on the 4th of July I sat at home in grief from my layoff notice that happened a little earlier. I used the time to google around online at what in the world would I do next.

That’s when I decided to start my own business using my computer from home, since working with computers is what I have always done. It was my own independence day from the corporate world, at least in my mind.

Even though I ended up getting my job back that year, I still held to my dream and became officially independent 10 months ago, after 2 more years at the office. Independence day will have this new meaning for me, moving forward.

Thus the original name of my business, Living Financially Independent, LLC, before I became EEK! I Need a Geek!

“… declare this independence…for yourself …”

The first  video I made to promote my business even ends in fireworks to declare this independence – see for yourself.  The following video is from my very first days starting my own business.  I’ll show it here just for fun:
